Retired BART Director Nello Bianco
predicts BART to San Jose will cost $6 Billion [Tri-Valley Herald].
While BART is popular, its promise has fallen short [San Jose Mercury] because most East Bay communities have failed to plan high density housing around stations. BART-SJ construction may start "around 2010": BART spokesman Mike Healy told KCBS it will be " probably somewhere around 2010 before we really get started on it"[KCBS Radio]. In Southern Alameda County, expanded ACE train service with connections to the BART station in Dublin could provide service to commuters in Livermore and eastward to Tracy [Contra Costa Times].
